pastsanity: (Who's the man with the gold in a ditch?)

first ingot ♚ video/action

[In New Bark Town, if anyone is still around, you might find a somewhat frustrated man - tossed back into his Navy uniform for who knows what reason - prodding at his PokeGear, a Wingull perched on his shoulder as if it was the most natural place for it to be. Despite the fact that the man seems to have no idea what to do with the machine, the Wingull, on the other hand, seems to have been accepted with no problem whatsoever.]

... Aha. Is this how it works? Clever. It seems it's more than a simple telephone, Gen.

[The Wingull makes a squawk, at which point Kinzo offers the PokeGear up, allowing the Wingul to lean down and inspect the device. After a few very serious moments of contemplation, the Wingull resumes its place on Kinzo's shoulder, squawks again, then nods in agreement. Kinzo seems to accept this response, since he smirks and chuckles - tossing the PokeGear in the air and catching it, feeling more confident in it now.]

Quite an intelligent bird. I really will have to find out where I can get more like you for the family once I return to Odaware. You're already proving to be quite useful. Now then, shall we see just how useful this is?

[At this point, Kinzo flips on the [VIDEO] function of the PokeGear, greeting viewers with his devilishly handsome Battlerface along with that of his Wingull's curious, but patient, stare. Kinzo is silent for a few moments, looking over the PokeGear as if he's sizing it up, and after he's made a decision, he nods.]

Yes... Yes, it appears to be recording now. I'm not really familiar with this kind of technology, but here it is, exisiting in my hands, so I can't exactly refute its existence, can I? That is, assuming I've not gone mad after all.

In any case...

My name is Ushiromiya Kinzo, and I am the Head of the Ushiromiya Family. [a pause] If there is anyone out there who can give me any information regarding where I am now or, more importantly, how I can return to Odawara... [Kinzo chuckles, flashing the camera a grin]

I promise that you will be rewarded for it.

[And with that, with all the flare and dramatics that one would expect of Ushiromiya Kinzo, he snaps the PokeGear shut and off in a swift movement, ending the video feed. For those still in New Bark, however, Kinzo opens the PokeGear again a few moments later and lets out a relieved sigh.]

... Good. That wouldn't have been nearly as effective if it hadn't actually turned off.

[Gen squawks one last time in agreement, giving a nod, and Kinzo heads off to investigate the town while he awaits a response.]

Hardly. If I know how things go now, perhaps I can make choices for the better; if I know how the hands fate plans on dealing me, and in order no less, each and every bet I make can be planned accordingly.

Beyond that... I would be creating something new. Original. Doesn't that sound rather exciting?

If anything, it sounds like a challenge. [ which, admittedly, is always exciting for a duelist. ]

Hoh. Perhaps a challenge is another word for it, yes, though I think the challenge has been defeated already. In coming here, if I retain even a single memory and don't pass it off as more than a very vivid dream, what results might have drastic concequences... or benefits.

Tell me. Have you learned anything here that might make you reconsider how you live or what you do upon your return?

Assuming that you do remember this, of course. [ she's pausing to consider the question. ] ... There's something worrisome I learned, that I plan to look into, if I'm lucky enough to remember.

I won't allow myself to forget. [he watches her, curious.] ... Hoh. I see even you, who knows nothing of your future self, still has something like this.

It was probably to be expected, in some way.

New worlds leading to new revelations.

... Yes, I suppose so. On the other hand, maybe fate will lead us right where we're intended to be either way.

Either way, it should be an experience.

Do you look forward to seeing how it ends?

I look forward to giving it my all, regardless of how it ends.

Hoh... Such a fighting spirit. I can respect that.
