pastsanity: (Who's the man with the gold in a ditch?)

first ingot ♚ video/action

[In New Bark Town, if anyone is still around, you might find a somewhat frustrated man - tossed back into his Navy uniform for who knows what reason - prodding at his PokeGear, a Wingull perched on his shoulder as if it was the most natural place for it to be. Despite the fact that the man seems to have no idea what to do with the machine, the Wingull, on the other hand, seems to have been accepted with no problem whatsoever.]

... Aha. Is this how it works? Clever. It seems it's more than a simple telephone, Gen.

[The Wingull makes a squawk, at which point Kinzo offers the PokeGear up, allowing the Wingul to lean down and inspect the device. After a few very serious moments of contemplation, the Wingull resumes its place on Kinzo's shoulder, squawks again, then nods in agreement. Kinzo seems to accept this response, since he smirks and chuckles - tossing the PokeGear in the air and catching it, feeling more confident in it now.]

Quite an intelligent bird. I really will have to find out where I can get more like you for the family once I return to Odaware. You're already proving to be quite useful. Now then, shall we see just how useful this is?

[At this point, Kinzo flips on the [VIDEO] function of the PokeGear, greeting viewers with his devilishly handsome Battlerface along with that of his Wingull's curious, but patient, stare. Kinzo is silent for a few moments, looking over the PokeGear as if he's sizing it up, and after he's made a decision, he nods.]

Yes... Yes, it appears to be recording now. I'm not really familiar with this kind of technology, but here it is, exisiting in my hands, so I can't exactly refute its existence, can I? That is, assuming I've not gone mad after all.

In any case...

My name is Ushiromiya Kinzo, and I am the Head of the Ushiromiya Family. [a pause] If there is anyone out there who can give me any information regarding where I am now or, more importantly, how I can return to Odawara... [Kinzo chuckles, flashing the camera a grin]

I promise that you will be rewarded for it.

[And with that, with all the flare and dramatics that one would expect of Ushiromiya Kinzo, he snaps the PokeGear shut and off in a swift movement, ending the video feed. For those still in New Bark, however, Kinzo opens the PokeGear again a few moments later and lets out a relieved sigh.]

... Good. That wouldn't have been nearly as effective if it hadn't actually turned off.

[Gen squawks one last time in agreement, giving a nod, and Kinzo heads off to investigate the town while he awaits a response.]

None I've seen for the ten months I've been here. And even if there were, you wouldn't be able to leave this world.

[identity profile] pastsanity.livejournal.com 2011-05-17 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
This "world"? Just what do you mean by that?

[identity profile] primaduelerina.livejournal.com 2011-05-17 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
This isn't Japan, or any other place anyone is familiar with. To put it simply, it's like we've been brought to an entirely different world.

[identity profile] pastsanity.livejournal.com 2011-05-17 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
It sounds like something directly out of a fantasy novel.

[He begins musing to himself.] I was told the genre would be mystery here... Interesting.

[identity profile] pastsanity.livejournal.com 2011-05-17 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
... Yes, that's right.

Just what genre do you think this is?

[identity profile] primaduelerina.livejournal.com 2011-05-18 08:46 am (UTC)(link)
... I wouldn't refer to this as a genre.

[identity profile] pastsanity.livejournal.com 2011-05-18 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh?

Then what would you refer to it as?

[identity profile] primaduelerina.livejournal.com 2011-05-19 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
A long and potentially dangerous vacation, if you had to call it anything.

[identity profile] pastsanity.livejournal.com 2011-05-19 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
That could still easily be regarded as a tale of the mystery genre.

[identity profile] primaduelerina.livejournal.com 2011-05-20 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
If not for the fact that we're living it.

[identity profile] primaduelerina.livejournal.com 2011-05-21 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
Because this isn't a story-- we're very much affected by what happens here.

[identity profile] pastsanity.livejournal.com 2011-05-21 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Hoh. We are simply living this story, that's all.

[identity profile] primaduelerina.livejournal.com 2011-05-22 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
And why are you sure it's a story?

[identity profile] pastsanity.livejournal.com 2011-05-22 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
Everything is. Whether it's a tragedy, a comedy, or even a mystery, we all are living a story.

[identity profile] primaduelerina.livejournal.com 2011-05-22 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
... I wouldn't recommend categorizing life like that.

[identity profile] pastsanity.livejournal.com 2011-05-22 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
Don't misunderstand. I'm not at all saying life isn't real, that this is only a story. It's simply a more interesting way to look at things.

[identity profile] primaduelerina.livejournal.com 2011-05-22 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
... By any chance, are you a writer?

[identity profile] pastsanity.livejournal.com 2011-05-22 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
[at that, Kinzo snorts]

Far from it. I was a soldier until just a few days ago, as a matter of fact.

[identity profile] pastsanity.livejournal.com 2011-05-23 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed. The details aren't important, but it would seem that my war is long history to you.

... [his eyes light up, grinning suddenly.] In that respect, my life truly would be a story to you.
